Friday fingers // Bandana Nails

I've always admired the bandana pattern but have been intimidated to try it on my nails. Luckily it wasn't too terrifying, but I would recommend using Sally Hansons nail art pen. If you aren't satisfied you can easily wipe it off, making it one million times easier and less stressful. Also last reminder on the giveaway which can also be found below. I'll be emailing the winners tonight at 12:00am.

 Supplies

#1. Top coat
#2. Red polish // Essie's Russian Roulette //
#3. White nail art pen
#4. 40 minutes of your time

Step one: Paint your nails red & wait 6 mins for nails to dry.

Step two: In order to get the design, start off with a pear, Hersey kiss type of shape.

Step three: Then slowly make half circles around the shape until it is completely covered.

Step four: Fill in the middle of the design with the same pear shape however this time you will leave two circles in the middle. To give it some pizzaz I added dots. You can continue this design to the rest of your nails or try out different shapes.

Step five: To give it variety, paint a curved line across. Then outline it with the same half circle design that gives it that paper dolly look. Continue doing these steps with the rest of your nails. Mix up the designs! The following pictures are other designs I played with but they all are created by the previous steps.

Step six: Add top coat & done. Remember to add another coat the day after you manicures! That way they last longer.

Cheers!

Friday fingers + Giveaway // Polka dot fuzz

I don't think I'll ever get tired of polka dots. They're so simple and harmless, how could anybody not be pro polka. They are my go to when I'm in a hurry, just so they're not too bare.  Last week I ordered some black fuzzzz, but I'm still searching for dark crushed velvets just because they're easier to maintain. My top searches are navy and dark burgundy. I can just imagine how rad they'd look. But for now I'll be having fun with what I got & i'll be sharing with some of you! Down low is a giveaway for two winners to get some fuzz as well as a chance to become a free sponsor for 2 months!

Supplies

#1. Black nail polish
#2. Top coat
#3. Tweezers
#4. Black crushed velvet
#5. 30 mins of your time

Step one: Paint your nails black, then apply top your top coat.

Step two: Make sure that your nails are 100% dry in order to continue onto this step. If so get your tweezers, top coat, and fuzz ready. Pour some onto a surface or small container.

Step three: Add a nice round drop of top coat onto your already coated nails. From here on your going to have to work semi fast, just so that fuzz'll stick nice and smooth. Once you apply the droplet, grab your tweezers and pick some fuzz up to apply onto your nail. Once the fuzz is on top, gentle dab it down, let it sit for 10 seconds or so. Then you can blow the residual fuzz off.

You can either do one droplet at a time (Which is what I did for the first 4 nails or so) or if your confident enough you can apply all the droplets you want onto one nail. Then follow the same process of gentle dabbing.

I decided to go bigger with my polkas then I usually do, just because it would make the fuzz more apparent but I also mixed and matched (Added some small fuzzy balls on there). I'm really glad with the way they came out, but I've never realized how pale winter has left me! I'm going to have to cook out in the sun one of these days, Im as tan as a new born.

Enter the raffle below to get your own set of fuzz as well as two months of free sponsor space located on the right. Happy friday!

Friday Fingers // Gold leaf nails

I absolutely love gold leaf. It turns anything and everything fancy & shiny! But lately I've been curious to use it on my nails. Turns out it is one of the easiest manicure's I have encountered. Add this to your lazy lady's guide of fast & fancy manicures because those gold sheets will last you forever. The best part is all the color combinations you could do. For New Year's sake I did Black & Gold but I will def. try some rose gold!

Supplies

#1. Gold leaf.
You could purchase this from any craft store or online.
#2. Black nail polish
#3. Top coat
#4. 30 mins of your time

Step one: Paint your nails black, or any color that will let the gold pop!

Step two: Now is the time to add the gold leaf. Make sure your nails are dry, but in that stage where its still kind of sticky. I recommend lightly touching your pinky nail for this. Then dab the sheet over your nail. Do this until you get the desired pattern.

Step three: Add top coat & your done!

Friday fingers /// Ikat nails

These past two weeks have been more hectic than usual. I've been dealing with grad school applications, which is really killing my printer. But its been both exciting and nerve wrecking. All I can say is, I can't wait for it to be over and done with! Today seriously better not be the end for us because my work needs to pay off. Anyways believe it or not stress leads me to painting my nails, and this week I feeling a bit katty (Ikat to be exact). I've done this tutorial before but my instructions weren't just right so redoing it was a must.

Materials

#1. Teal nail polish
#2. Bright orange striper brush
#3. White nail art pen
#4. Black nail art pen
#5. Top coat
#6. 25 mins of your time

Step one: Paint your nails with your teal polish. Then let it dry.

Step two: Paint some chunky splotchy dots with your orange striper brush.

Step three: Once your orange droplets are dry, top them with some white polish. To be honest, I even love the way this pattern looks. Simple but vibrant!

Step four: Add a black dot to each of your dots. They should look like eyeballs at this point. Remember to make sure your polish is dry as you take the next step.

Step five: This is the tricky part. With your black nail art polish you will now outline your orange eye pattern. Now when you do this you will make a jagged like pattern around it. Perfection is not the key here. Lastly top coat them up & done!

 Cheers!

Friday fingers /// D.i.y Strawberry nails

I know summer time is over, but I still like to have it at my finger tips. It makes the gloomy days brighter! Plus I just couldn't wait, the second the idea poped in my head I had to leap for it. For those of you that decide to try these delicious strawberrys, I just want to warn all you nail biting lip pickers to hold back on picking the seeds off. At first it feels glorious but then you'll look at what you've done and regret it. I don't recommend it.

Supplies

#1. Top coat
#2. Green striper nail polish
#3. Red nail polish
#4. Gold microbeads
#5. Metal tool similar to toothpick
#6. Nail glue
#7. And 35 minutes of your time

Step one: Paint your nails with a red polish. I did two coats on mine.

Step two: With your striper green nail polish make stripes from down to up. Make some longer than others, as strawberry leaves aren't even. Which means you don't have to make them perfect!

Step three: Once you finish adding the leaves to all your nails begin to add your seeds! For this step you will need gold micro beads, nail glue, and a metal tool. Originally I used a tooth pick but the wood just absorbed the glue.

Step four: Add a drop of nail glue onto a plastic surface. I used the lid of the nail glue and worked off there (p.s. this is still technically step three). First you will add small drops of glue where you'd like the seeds to be (In the photo above I place the dots of glue on my ring finger). Once the glue is on there begin to pick up the micro beads with the dotting tool. What makes this step easy is picking at the super glue first, that way the seeds latch on. Then apply one seed at a time! Continue this step until all your nails are done. **Remember you need to do this one nail at a time.

Step five: Once the nail glue is dry, you may now add your top coat.

Happy friday!
